Anoushka Mirchandani

Anoushka Mirchandani is a contemporary artist living in San Francisco. Born and raised in Pune, India, Anoushka moved to the United States when she was 18 years old. Her artworks are informed both by her cultural upbringing in India, and her personal discoveries and growth in the United States.

Mirchandani works across multiple media to create figurative and abstract artworks that embody the emotions and feelings. Through her art, she explores what it feels like to be a woman in society today. Her artworks are inspired by her patchwork identity; that of being Indian, being an immigrant, being an American, being a woman, and being an artist.

In her most recent show ‘Just Between Us’ the artist presents a new series of intimate portraits composed of oil and oil pastel on canvas. In the face of recent adversity and a global pandemic, Mirchandani invites viewers into the inner sanctum of her psyche. Through the minimalistic, textural portraits in a signature warm colour palette, she engages in deep self-reflection on establishing boundaries of renewed closeness with the self, with others and her surrounding environment.
