  • RHODES is delighted to announce Following the Path of the Sun, a solo exhibition by celebrated British artist Camilla Perkins, opening on Thursday 1st May 2025.

This highly anticipated exhibition takes viewers on a sun-drenched journey through Mediterranean landscapes, inspired by Perkins’ personal travels through Italy, the South of France and Palma de Mallorca. Through vivid colours and intricate compositions, her paintings evoke the golden warmth of European summers, transporting the viewer to moments of leisure, exploration and nostalgia.

Perkins is known for her bold, maximalist compositions, where intricate patterns and a vibrant colour palette bring to life the beauty of everyday moments. Her work is heavily influenced by textiles, folk art and mid-century illustration, resulting in a distinctive visual language that blends observation with imagination. In Following the Path of the Sun, she presents a joyful and immersive collection of paintings that celebrate the energy and rhythm of Mediterranean life; serene beaches, lush gardens, tiled courtyards and sunlit terraces filled with warmth and movement.

Positioned at the forefront of the Charleston House revival and the contemporary reimagining of the Bloomsbury Group's legacy, Perkins’ practice is rooted in a deep appreciation of decorative arts and communal creativity. Her recent inclusion in a museum exhibition at Watts Gallery further reflects the growing institutional recognition of her work and its resonance within the wider history of British painting.

Building on the overwhelming response to her previous sold-out exhibition at RHODES, this new body of work continues to explore themes of nature, leisure and personal memory. Perkins’ expressive brushwork and bold palettes invite viewers to step into a world of vibrancy and serenity, where the familiar scenes of summer holidays are reimagined through her signature interplay of pattern and form. Each piece is a celebration of colour and atmosphere, drawing on lived experience to create paintings that feel both intimate and expansive.

Following the Path of the Sun will be on display at RHODES 2nd - 30th May 2025, with a Private View with the artist held on Thursday 1st May, 6-8pm.

Camilla Perkins is a British artist known for her vibrant, expressive paintings that explore themes of nature, memory and domestic life. Influenced by her travels, as well as the decorative traditions of textiles, folk art and mid-century illustration, her work features bold colour, intricate pattern and a maximalist approach to composition. From sun-drenched landscapes to intimate interiors, she reimagines everyday moments through a distinctive visual language.

Her practice is rooted in the legacy of the Bloomsbury Group and the decorative ethos of Charleston House, positioning her as a key figure in the revival of this tradition. She has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, including a recent museum presentation at Watts Gallery, and her work is held in private collections.
