Madison Skriver's art serves as a gateway to the surreal, enriched with symbolism, time, and nostalgia, employing vivid colors and a mix of graphic elements and realism.
Her paintings often depict figures in scenes that appear familiar at first, but contain details that make their narratives uncertain. Through symbolism, vivid colour and shifts between realism and stylisation, Skriver explores memory, nostalgia and the surreal.
Skriver’s compositions draw attention to the way images can stage or shape experience. Her figures and settings suggest narratives without fully explaining them, leaving space for ambiguity and multiple readings.
Skriver was born in Oregon and lives in Portland. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Oregon. Her work has appeared in New American Paintings and has been presented at Art Busan and UNVT Art Fair. Selected solo exhibitions include Homebody at Yusto/Giner Gallery, Spain (2023), and Picture Show at RHODES (2025).
