Through vivid colours and intricate compositions, her paintings evoke the golden warmth of European summers, transporting the viewer to moments of leisure, exploration and nostalgia.
Perkins is known for her bold, maximalist compositions, where intricate patterns and a vibrant colour palette bring to life the beauty of everyday moments. Her work is heavily influenced by textiles, folk art and mid-century illustration, resulting in a distinctive visual language that blends observation with imagination. In Following the Path of the Sun, she presents a joyful and immersive collection of paintings that celebrate the energy and rhythm of Mediterranean life; serene beaches, lush gardens, tiled courtyards and sunlit terraces filled with warmth and movement.

In this series, Perkins invites us on a sun-drenched European adventure. Skin warmed by the sun and tingling from the sea, we hear the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze as we follow a golden, sunlit path. Her paintings exude a blissful calm and an infectious sense of joy. Though grounded in real places, the warmth they radiate feels universal, calling to mind our own holidays and summers past.
Perkins has long been inspired by the bonds between women, including mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. In these works, she weaves moments of intimacy into her glowing, light-filled scenes. Three Sisters in Palma captures a beautifully familiar sentiment, evoking love, friendship and the spirit of adventure. We can imagine ourselves within the painting, walking with loved ones after a sun-soaked day. The work hums with life, warmth and music, much like The Sun Dips Beneath The Waves, where we are transported to a quiet beach, waves gently lapping at the shore.

In Monet’s Garden, Perkins draws directly from her own sketches and photographs, taken during a visit to the famed gardens at Giverny. The plants and flowers that appear throughout her work are real, grounding these dreamlike scenes in the physical beauty of the places that inspire them. Nymphéas deepens this connection and references Monet’s iconic waterlily series. By placing her subject among the lilies, Perkins places herself in conversation with art history, walking beside Monet in his garden.

Perkins’ works remind us of the deep human need for moments of serenity. In Lost in the Summer Garden and Boats Sail By on Turquoise Waters, her figures are caught in quiet solitude. Yet there is nothing lonely about them. They appear calm and content, absorbed in their surroundings, whether taking in a sweeping view or enjoying the peace of a garden paradise.

Perkins continues her still-life series Studio Flowers, taking her recognisable imagery on a journey through the places she has visited. Each work carries the unique feeling of the location it represents; the hot, burnt oranges of Mallorca or the fresh, vibrant produce of Provence. The series acts like a collection of postcards, a homage to the places that have inspired her along the way.
