Delving into Madison Skriver's hyper-realistic paintings

The American Artist has her London debut solo exhibition at RHODES

Madison Skriver is an emerging artist born and currently based in Portland, Oregon. Her work is in the RHODES Project Room over October 2025 for Picture Show, marking her UK debut solo exhibition.

She is gaining recognition for her hyper-realistic paintings that explore themes of symbolism, time, and nostalgia. Through a refined combination of immense precision and storytelling, Skriver curates vivid compositions that invite viewers into immersive, narrative-rich worlds. From a young age, Skriver was captivated by the possibilities of painting, using her practice to build unique portals into the surreal. Her work reflects a deep fascination with the mysticism of painting itself. Drawing inspiration from mid-century pop culture, she merges realism with two-dimensional graphic elements and bold, saturated colour palettes to bring her visions to life.

Each of Skriver's pieces is the result of an intensive, tedious process. The time and dedication poured into her work are evident in her final pieces, as the paintings are finely rendered and often mistaken for real-life visual captures. Her art not only showcases exceptional skill but also invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reimagine the stories embedded in everyday circumstances.

Skriver's debut solo exhibition in England, Picture Show, is at RHODES until the end of October 2025. Over a year in the making, the show will bring together a cohesive body of work that reflects her dedication to taking time and refining every detail. This is an exciting opportunity to see Skriver fully dedicate herself to a complete series of works, offering audiences a first in-depth look at her perspective.
