Coming soon to Rhodes Editions - Juan de la Rica

The Spanish Artist will release his limited edition print with RHODES Editions in early March

RHODES Editions is proud to present an exclusive new print by  Spanish artist Juan de la Rica, available for purchase on 6th March 2025 at 4 PM (GMT) via the RHODES Editions website.

De la Rica’s dedication to structure, balance, and harmony translates perfectly into print form. His control of light, shadow, and colour, ensures that this edition captures the essence of his original works in a striking new format. His works draw from a rich colour palette, which contrasts well with the hyper-intense shading of his figures. Saturated forms of orange, green, blue, and yellow are made dynamic through their opposing shadow hues, while this shading itself is contrasted with further intensity in the highlights. The tension in his work is interrupted with subtle strokes and textures that break through the perfectly smoothed appearance.

Juan de la Rica in his studio

Born in 1979 in Bilbao, de la Rica has built an international reputation for his  visual language, blending Pop Art aesthetics with bold, synthetic forms. His paintings are defined by sharp edges, thick lines, and contrasts that create both his subject and the background. De la Rica's figures are shaped from round lines that are harshly shaded, and this stark juxtaposition creates interactions between form and space, by relating the figure to the rest of the composition, often full of seemingly unrelated shapes. These shapes, however, are essential to achieving the detached atmosphere seen in de la Rica's canvases, as they allow the viewer to create a story alongside the character. This results in artworks that are as compelling narratively as they are visually.

The artist once described his artwork as a visual language, with the aim of "communicating ideas that cannot be expressed with words". His upcoming print release, featuring his iconic colours, forms, and structures, represents this perfectly. De la Rica has exhibited worldwide, with solo and group shows in New York, Taiwan, Berlin, and Paris, as well as features at national and international art fairs. With a growing global following, demand for de la Rica's work is on the rise, making this print a great addition to any collection.
