De la Rica’s dedication to structure, balance, and harmony translates perfectly into print form. Born in 1979 in Bilbao, de la Rica has built an international reputation for his visual language, blending Pop Art aesthetics with bold, synthetic forms. His paintings are defined by sharp edges, thick lines, and contrasts that create both his subject and the background. De la Rica's figures are shaped from round lines that are harshly shaded, and this stark juxtaposition creates interactions between form and space, by relating the figure to the rest of the composition, often full of seemingly unrelated shapes. These shapes, however, are essential to achieving the detached atmosphere seen in de la Rica's canvases, as they allow the viewer to create a story alongside the character. This results in artworks that are as compelling narratively as they are visually.
