Cochrane is fascinated with the presentation of the female image in pop-culture and her works aim to subvert tradition, challenge the male gaze, and show natural and unapologetic representations of the female form.
The juxtaposition between the fruit and the skin makes the image look delicious and appealing but the artists mark making adds a fierceness to the delicate and tender nature of the image. The print lends itself to the bold, feminine, and arresting motifs that are typical of Cochrane's artistic style.
Cochrane’s work questions the relationship between society, consumerism and pop culture. Her focus is on feminine beauty, illustrated through the application of paint over photographic images. Cochrane reflects upon insecurity and perfectionism in the modern age.
