Brodskis' artistic journey explores the boundaries of the sensible world, crafting narratives that lie on the boundary between conscious and unconscious spaces.
Rebecca Brodskis is a Paris-based artist whose rich, multicultural upbringing has significantly shaped her artistic expression. Spending her formative years traveling between France and Morocco, Brodskis developed a unique perspective that permeates her work.
This exposure to diverse cultures and environments fostered an early appreciation for the complexity of human experience and the interplay between different worlds, both physical and metaphysical.
Brodskis' artistic journey explores the boundaries of the sensible world, crafting narratives that lie on the boundary between conscious and unconscious spaces. Her work is a profound reflection on existence, selfhood, and otherness, with a distinct emphasis on the "in-between" — a liminal space where empirical reality meets imagination, order encounters disorder, materialism intersects with spirituality, and determinism converges with freedom. This intricate interplay creates a dynamic and thought-provoking dialogue within her art.
Her approach to art is deeply influenced by her academic background in sociology, which informs her exploration of social dynamics and the human psyche. Her paintings often address themes of isolation, connection, and the invisible threads that bind individuals and communities. By juxtaposing elements of chaos and harmony, she creates a visual language that speaks to the complexity of contemporary life and the enduring quest for meaning and understanding.
Her work has garnered significant attention and acclaim, leading to numerous solo exhibitions such as Un Gesto in Mexico, Together Separated in Copenhagen, and Echoes of Now in Florida, USA. As well as her solo shows, Brodskis has taken part in group exhibitions worldwide, and released a sold-out limited edition print, Effet Miroir, in 2024 with RHODES Editions.
