Larysa Myers, who grew up in Chicago, explores femininity and motherhood through abstract, cyclical forms. Her work reflects on memory, identity, and nature, using intuitive mark-making to create a dreamlike quality that invites introspection and emotional depth. She usually works from her imagination, influenced by memory, feelings, symbols and nature. Repetitive patterns and lines in mark are intended to create a slower, more reflective state.

Her work explores ideals and dualities of femininity through imagery drawn from personal memory and imagination. Her figures function as female archetypes, examining domesticity, constructed feminine ideals and psychological tensions within these roles. She works in painting and drawing, creating spaces where interior and exterior worlds blur. Influenced by symbolism, surrealism and the language of film, the settings are domestic, wild, mundane and fantastical, each opening into different parts of the psyche and identity
