Colette Lavette

Colette Lavette's paintings are often built around mythological narratives, with biomorphic forms created from bold expressionist marks. The figures’ gestures and the use of light in her compositions are reminiscent of themes seen in Rococo and Renaissance art. Central to Lavette's work and life is her passion for sustainability and her interest in geological and biological history, seen in her earthy colour palette. Her pieces are made with oil and rag paper, creating  immersive texture and deep colours.
