American artist Genevieve Cohn creates powerful compositions that explore female communities and collective strength. Drawing inspiration from historical and literary sources, her work imagines a world where women derive power from collaboration, self-endowed agency, and connection with nature. The balance between the oftentimes heavy composition with the playful colour palette is done intentionally to explore the duality of light and dark energies. This makes the works complex and complicated, a reflection of the world she is creating them in.
Numerous key galleries and museums such as Hashimoto Contemporary, San Francisco have featured Genevieve Cohn's work in the past. She has also been featured in articles for JUXTAPOZ, FAD Magazine and Artillery Magazine.
