Where his suited figures are anonymised bodies... the women in Sabo’s works dominate their worlds.
Sabo creates works that feature exaggerated, almost satirical figures in lurid pinks, greens, and blues. His works utilise contrast between soft and sharp, short and tall, to explore gender roles through the depiction of drag queens and suited men.
His pieces not only explore the differences between them, but also work to give “femininity” the upper hand. Where his suited figures are seen urinating, or their anonymised bodies crammed into small spaces, the women in Sabo’s works dominate their worlds.
Sabo has previously credited drag queens and ”bimbos” in his life for forming the basis for these characters. They are depicted in hot pinks, with sharp stilettos and exciting outfits. When compared to the men, Sabo makes it clear who is in charge, turning his works into “a way of advocating for women and queer people.”
Kevin Sabo has had successful solo exhibitions internationally, from New York to Paris. His work has been featured in publications like Architectural Digest and Metal Magazine, and his first solo exhibition at RHODES, Louche (2025), sold out.
