  • Raffael Bader's paintings capture the essence of nature, not just as it appears but as it forms within him over time. This deeper reality shapes his Bader's, which blends strong abstraction with familiar structures.

Raffael Bader, a Leipzig-based visual artist, is known for his evocative exploration of landscapes that reflect the tensions holding our world together. His paintings capture the essence of nature, not just as it appears but as it forms within him over time. This deeper reality shapes his work, which blends strong abstraction with familiar structures.

Bader’s approach to painting is open and fluid, embracing imperfection as a path to creativity. He avoids the pursuit of perfection, believing it limits potential. Instead, he allows the process to guide him, focusing on essential elements like colours, shapes, and lines found in nature. His works often begin with simple, intuitive drawings, or "notes," which evolve into fully formed pieces as the painting takes on a life of its own.

Using oil paints, oil pencils, and water-miscible mediums, Bader creates layered textures that range from thin, watery washes to thicker, more substantial strokes. His technique highlights the interplay between empty space and painted areas, offering a balance that mirrors the tension and harmony found in nature.

Bader’s work has been exhibited across Europe, including in  galleries in cities such as Munich, Berlin, and Leipzig. His abstract, landscape-driven pieces invite viewers to connect with their own emotions and experiences, evoking both a sense of longing and an underlying presence of danger. Through this, Bader reflects his vision of a world held together by the constant push and pull of its tensions.
